What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They let the site remember things between visits — like whether you've accepted cookies or stayed signed in. Similar technologies like localStorage and session storage serve the same purpose and are covered by this policy.

Categories of cookies we use

1. Essential cookies (always on)

These are strictly necessary for the site to function. They do not require consent under GDPR. We use them to:

  • Keep you signed in to the cafe dashboard or admin dashboard (httpOnly auth cookies)
  • Protect forms and API requests from CSRF attacks
  • Remember your cookie preference so we don't show the banner again

2. Analytics cookies (optional)

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded via Google Tag Manager, to understand which pages visitors find useful and how we can improve Kafeo. These cookies only load after you accept them via the banner on your first visit. They set cookies named _ga, _ga_*, and (from Tag Manager) may include others depending on which tags we enable.

To minimize privacy impact, we configure Google Analytics to:

  • Anonymize your IP address
  • Disable Google Signals (demographic/interest data)
  • Disable ad personalization

If you don't accept analytics cookies, these scripts are never loaded and no tracking cookies are set.

Changing your preference

You can change your choice at any time:
