A Book Party: Off on a Tangent’s First Ever Gathering
Do you finish a book and want to tell someone about it? This is the place.
Off on a Tangent is a new social club for people who love reading and love talking about it even more. For our first gathering, we’re keeping it simple and cosy with A Book Party: a small afternoon meetup where everyone brings a book they’ve read and shares what they took away from it.
How it works
We’ll sit together and take turns. When it’s your turn, tell us about a book you’ve read: what it’s about, why you picked it up, and the one thing that stuck with you. It could be a big life lesson, a new way of seeing things, a character you can’t stop thinking about, or just one line that won’t leave your head.
Then we talk. Questions, reactions, “wait, that reminds me of…” moments. Fair warning: we will go off on tangents. That’s the whole point.
Who it’s for
Anyone who reads, whether it’s one book a year or one a week. Any genre is welcome: fiction, self-help, memoir, fantasy, romance, business, comics. You don’t need to have read the latest bestseller or prepared a speech. Come as you are and share what you can.
What to bring
A book you’ve read (physical, e-book or just your memory of it)
Your takeaways, big or small
An open mind and some curiosity about what everyone else is reading
A little something for you 🎁
Every attendee gets a free bookmark sticker label to take home.
